Celebrating Centenary of the Chinese Republican Revolution

2011 marks a historic event in Chinese history. This October, people around the world will celebrate 100 years since the Founding of Republican China. The Chinese Youth Society of Melbourne (CYSM) has produced a Commemorative Booklet with a contemporary perspective on this historic event. In addition to this, CYSM is coordinating a program of events to take place throughout 2011 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary. These are public events open to everyone.

 

Centenary of the Chinese Republic Revolution Variety Concert

In celebration of the 100th Anniversary, CYSM is proud to present a Variety Concert showcasing the cultural talents of our local Chinese community in two spectacular shows. From the graceful dancers and voices of the Sabrina Performing Arts School, to the beats of the HGYS Spirit of the Lion Drum Team, to the awe of Melbourne's ONLY Luminous Dragon and newly awakened Lotus Flower Dragon, along with the intensity of Chinese Opera and elegance of Cultural Folk Dances, Melbourne will come alight with the sights and sounds of our cultural heritage.

Dr Sun Yat-sen's Statue Unveiling Ceremony

In recognition of the contributions made by Dr Sun Yat-sen, known the world over as the Founder of Modern China, the Melbourne Chinese community are erecting a statue in the heart of Melbourne's Chinatown in his honour.

Dr Sun Yat-sen's Life Story Exhibition

An exhibition showcasing the life and work of Dr Sun Yat-sen, Founder of Modern China.
